Our Approach
You will have likely browsed 10s of Bristol wedding videographers as this point, potentially noticing a bit of a trend of wedding videos being quite dramatic and almost Hollywood-esque. I find that this skewing of reality and intensive editing can be a little unnecessary when all you want is a wedding video that reflects the true essence and feeling of the day, rather than a slick film trailer. When I capture and edit a wedding video as a Bristol wedding videographer, I’m trying to capture the raw beauty and story of the day and then reflect that back to you in the most natural way possible, free of distracting ‘camera work’ and dramatic editing. I feel that this results in a wedding video which is much more emotionally engaging and memory-evoking, as well as being all-round more timeless.
The way in which i pull this off is essentially just to not interfere and let the day unfold in front of me, nothing contrived or orchestrated, almost like an extra guest with a camera, not afraid to take a step back from the action and capture the goings on of the day. I also use minimal equipment so that i’m nimble and reactive to moments, rather than being bogged down by unnecessary ‘hey look i’m a camera man’ kit. Naturally, no one really likes the idea of being filmed, so i’ve found the above to really put people at ease, with most wedding guests usually thinking i’m the photographers assistant unaware a wedding video is even being captured.
We’re currently taking booking for 2021/22 with unfortunately very limited 2021 availability and dwindling availability for key dates in 2022 so do drop us an enquiry at your earliest opportunity.
I’m often asked if I mind filming weddings back at the same venue multiple times, and my answer is always ‘it depends on the venue’. Some venues have a fantastic diversity of environments for different aspects of the day, and Elmore Court is certainly one of those. From the Hall, where most have their ceremony, a grand and regal room magically lit by vast stained glass windows, to the gillyflower, a cob built an extension to the main house which has a wonderful contemporary feel for the meal and party. It’s always an absolute pleasure to get a wedding in the diary for Elmore Court and this was no different when I first heard from the lovely Lauren & Gwilym.
Lauren & Gwilym had been referred to me by a couple whose wedding i filmed at the same venue a few years prior, and humorously it wasn’t until L&G went for a viewing at Elmore did they realise that they’d in fact celebrated their friends wedding there. L&G live and work in New York, so organised most of the wedding remotely, and did a fab job at it. The day itself was a quintessentially english drizzling day in late December, but all the more reason to have a cozy winter wedding at Elmore.
